Your 4th MASN conference team

Dear friends,

We want to inform you that our application deadline expires on October 31, 2007. To finish the preparations, we need to know how many participants we have. We can not announce officially yet, but it is fairly certain that the participation fee will be significantly decreased! Be sure that we will inform you, as soon as we get the official confirmation! We are looking forward to the conference, to see familiar faces our MASN family and of course, particularly to meet the new members of our network!

4th international conference

«Exploring Anthropology»

– Perspectives on Interactions, Changes &

Challenges –

to take place in Blaubeuren, Germany

from November 7th – 11th 2007

“MASN – The “Moving Anthropology Student Network” was set up with the aim of connecting anthropology students and graduates around the world. That is why we would like YOU to present your latest research, fieldwork and other experiences or interests in form of a paper-presentation, workshop/roundtable discussion or fringe event on our next conference and discuss them with other anthropology students from different countries.

Anthropology of Media: deals with various modes of anthropological presentations. Furthermore, it also takes the development of new fields of anthropological research, i.e. films, cyber anthropology, etc. into consideration.

Migration: includes aspects like the preservation and change of individual and collective identities, conflicts, rituals, ethnicities, …etc.

Anthropology of the Senses: everything dealing with human senses, i.e. their evaluation in different cultures, anthropology of food, …

Anthropology of Crisis / in crisis situations is concerned with the work in conflict areas, dangerous fields of research, personal states of crisis in the field, but also with theories on crisis

Structure of the Conference:

Conference days will be divided in morning (papers presentation) and afternoon (roundtable discussions, workshops) sessions as well as fringe events (excursions, exhibitions, performances, film and so on) in the evening.

We count on your creative contributions!

Therefore we would like to ask interested presenters and convenors to send their proposals (about 250 words) until August 20th, 2007 to papers-germany@freenet.de. An international committee of MASN students will decide on the selection of papers.
